MICROPHYLLA ‘FAULKNER’

Arbusto sempreverde, originario della penisola balcanica, attraverso il Caucaso e l’Asia minore,
fino all’Iran e alla Libia. Ha portamento eretto, molto ben ramificato e folto.
Le foglie sono verde scuro, molto più chiare e lucide quando giovani, spesse e coriacee, di forma oblunga, tondeggiante verso l’apice, lievemente seghettate verso l’esterno.

Fiorisce tra aprile e giugno con fiori bianchi, ermafroditi, disposti a racemo, dall’odore profumato. I frutti sono drupe rosse/viola quando acerbe, e nero-bluastre una volta raggiunta la maturazione.
Fruttifica a fine estate-inizio autunno.

Evergreen shrub, native to the Balkan peninsula, through the Caucasus and Asia Minor, up to Iran and Libya. It has an upright habit, very well branched and bushy. The leaves are dark green, much lighter and more glossy when young, thick and leathery, oblong in shape, rounded towards the apex,
slightly serrated towards the outside.
It blooms between April and June with white, hermaphrodite flowers, arranged in a raceme, with a perfumed smell.
The fruits are red/purple drupes when unripe, and bluish-black when ripe. Fruits in late summer-early autumn.

UTILIZZO
Trova impiego come pianta ornamentale e da
siepe grazie al suo fitto fogliame.

USAGE
It is used as an ornamental and hedge plant thanks to its thick foliage.
