Arbusto sempreverde, con portamento eretto.
Le sue foglie sono ovali e coriacee, di colore verde scuro nella parte superiore e verde chiaro nella inferiore. Presenta fiori a forma di spiga di colore bianco ad inizio estate.

Caratteristica la sua rusticità, non ha molte esigenza in fatto di terreno.
